Robert N. DeMaio, DoP / Camera Operator
I'm a New York based filmmaker working primarily as a Director of Photography, Camera Operator, and AC / Utility. I have additional experience producing, directing, and editing short form content.
I primarily work in commercials, promos, corporate/industrial films, and branded digital content, however, I also have experience in feature documentaries and nonfiction TV. I'm interested in expanding into narrative features, shorts, music videos, and long form series.
I'm highly versatile and adaptive in how I approach different projects. Stylistically, I lean toward naturalism in both my lighting and camera work, but I'm not afraid to be more "stylized" if it serves the story, characters, and tone.
I'm a graduate of Boston College with a degree in broadcast communication and film studies. I began my career at ABC News helping to produce magazine style programs and documentary series for cable TV clients such as OWN, TLC, and ID. Next, I went to work for The Concept Farm, an NYC-based ad agency, and made the transition into commercial work. As a freelancer, I've continued to collaborate with The Concept Farm and their creative partners on a regular basis.
I've directly created content for brands such as SAP, Estee Lauder, Bowlmor, Google, and Disney, as well as various start-ups and non-profit groups. I've also served on commercial campaigns and promos for Ulta Cosmetics, Allstate, 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, and Aruba Tourism, in addition to magazine style series like NBC's Open House and TV documentaries like ESPN's 30 for 30 series.
